Daily Routine

I think that all children thrive best when there is routine in their day. I will discuss with parents what types of things work best with their child and we can devise an outline to work towards. Usually it is best to work things around set meal times.

I will set a learning objective for each day, for example setting up our own shop. The learning will always be fun based and will encompass many areas of learning.
Painting and drawing activities are always available throughout the day.

I am always more than happy for children to suggest their own ideas for daily activities and I will record these suggestions and ensure that we participate in the chosen activity.

At the end of your child’s day I will complete, together with your child, a daily activity sheet. This will give us a chance to think about all of the things we have done during the day and what your child enjoyed the most. This record will be given to you at the end of each day. This will also provide information on meals they have had.

With your permission I would sometimes like to take photographs of the children doing activities. I would like to e-mail or give these to you on a regular basis so you have them to keep.

As childminders are limited to the number of children they can care for I will ensure that at least once per week I attend one of the many children’s activity groups that run in the area. This way your child will have interaction with larger groups of children. Very important for their social development.

Out and About

I have car insurance that covers me for business use. I have a full, clean driving licence and our car has a valid MOT certificate. All documents are available for inspection if required.

I aim to ensure that, weather permitting, children spend at least half an hour per day outside. The local park is an ideal venue to visit and only a two minute walk from the house!
I like to encourage reading as much as possible and the local library has a reading area specifically for children. I would like to visit the library on a regular basis, it is a great venue in the winter when the weather is not so good.
As we have many local areas of great interest to children I would sometimes like, with permission, to arrange trips to local museums and nature reserves etc. We could set learning objectives for our trip and record what we have seen through drawings and photos.
